(Serves 48)

Ingredients
30 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon allspice
1 teaspoon ground mace
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 tablespoon freshly ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon freshly ground cinnamon stick
1/2 cup pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon Angostura bitters
1 cup bourbon or blended whiskey
1 (750 milliliter) bottle dark rum
1 (750 milliliter) bottle almond-flavored liqueur, such as Amaretto
1 (750 milliliter) bottle brandy
6 quarts heavy cream
Directions
Beat the eggs with the white sugar, and light and dark brown sugars in a stand mixer until completely blended. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl. Stir in the allspice, mace, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Pour the bitters, bourbon, rum, almond-flavored liqueur, and brandy into a large, 4 gallon bowl or food safe bucket. Stir in the egg mixture until thoroughly blended. Pour in the heavy cream and continue stirring. Divide into smaller containers and refrigerate. Shake or stir the containers 2 to 4 times each day for 30 days.
Footnotes
Editor’s Note
While the high amount of alcohol in this recipe will counteract any possible bacteria from the eggs, if making this recipe with less alcohol, you may want to consume within the week. If you are concerned about the safety of consuming raw egg, use an equivalent amount of pasteurized egg which can be found in cartons in most grocery stores near the eggs. 30 eggs would be equal to 7 1/2 cups.

Coolness

Good evening humans. I’m back with my first addition to what I’ll just call COOLNESS. Occasionally we all run across that thing that we just have to share, text and tweet to the whole world about, hence the coolness. I plan to bring you lovely little bits from all over, but this entry is a little something for my locals. Luckily for a fluffy gal like me, I was born in south Louisiana, a region that is overrun with wonderful restaurants. I tend to get hooked on something in the area about once a month. Really. Right now (and probably for as long as they stay in business) my lunch time favorite is Taco Sisters. Located on upper end of Johnston Street in Lafayette LA, this cute little orange drive thru has the best fish tacos on planet earth.

Trust a fluffy girl, as I kid you not when I say that they’re orgasmic. Made fresh to order, this little shop is open five days a week from 11 am to 2pm serving tacos, “smoky boats” and salads that will provide a welcome change to your lunch routine. The food is the business, the service is always great and the prices are recession friendly. If you’re ever in the area, check the sisters out and try the fish taco with avocado and cheese. So much better than a run for the border.

UnDeRsTaNdAbLe EmOtIoNs…

While listening to the new John Mayer album, Battle Studies, I came to a realization.  I heart the simple things in life that makes sense.  So when I was asked earlier today to help with situations that were pertinent to a relationship, I couldn’t.   There was so much to say, but no starting point.  It was like landing in the middle of marathon and not knowing whether the finish line was to your left or to your right.   So, to keep things simple (like I always try and do), I instructed them to write down the good things that happen to them….keep it in their pocket….and go back to it when feeling down and out.  Truth be told, life is never simple.  At it’s best, it makes you feel invincible.  At it’s worst, oh man.  Everything crumbles.  You lose focus, purpose and sometimes sanity.   I’ve learned to cope with things by letting music guide me back into that happy medium.   That works for me.  Well that, and a one night stand…just kidding haha.

So when does it end?   When your heart says so.

AnD NoW…NeWnEss iS HeRe!

Bonjour. Nice to meet you. I’m the female side to Dawnyele’s story: Afrokittay.

A little about me:

Who are you? I’m a 28 year old mom and Sociology student living in south Louisiana. I love kittens, earrings, chocolate, music, shopping, cheese, and cool shit in general.

What the hell is up with that user name? I rock an afro, and I love kitties. Nuff said.

What are you doing here? My homey has been harassing me to share all of this infinite wisdom for like, 3 months. And now here I am: Afrokittay: Queen of the procrastinators.

What do you plan to talk about? As my fearless leader stated, I bring the sexy. I’ll be discussing things like fashion, art, culture, entertainment, and whatever else comes to mind.

Anything else? Sure, if you’re reading this, thanks! I’m open to any suggestions, comments and ideas from Dawnyele’s readers. Just shoot me an email at Afrokittay@Dawnyele.com. All I ask is that you save the drama for your mama, and NEVER come at anyone on this site in a hateful or malicious manner. You can be an ass, just be a semi-courteous ass. Dig?

wHo’S bEeN AsKiNg aBoUt mE? (oR tHaT BrAnD nEw tWiN oF MiNe)

Hey everyone!  How’s it going?  This is L. Jones once again writing for no reason…well let me change that.   A few people have asked me recently about my T-shirt line and why I haven’t pushed it lately like in the beginning.  2 reasons:

1) Most of my attention had been focused on my other job, which is my main source of income. I need that to be right so I can be right with my passion: writing this blog and selling my product.

2) My blog was created not only to showcase my shirts and my ongoing struggles of creating styles, but to also be informative on other aspects of things I enjoy…i.e. music, fragrances and movies.

What I wanted to create was a one stop shop for finding out what’s new, what’s good and what’s hot. So how can I continue to give you the goods all the time?  By adding new and fresh faces that think like me-kinda like my twins.  So in the next few days I will be introducing a new face to DaWnYeLe! by the name of ….wait for it…. AFROKITTAY!  She’s real cool and has a taste for the sexy and simple. I’ll still be around as well and sharing my thoughts to the masses. DaWnYeLe! is expanding!  Yay!
