I’m Starting Over.

Soon this Dawnyele blog will be no more. Thanks for viewing it and enjoying the two plus years of randomness it has provided. I will not be gone, but as a Phoenix falls and rises I will be involved in something better. I will provide you guys with the new blog name as soon as it’s up and running. So until then, holla!!!

Its time for the second season….

Hey there beautiful ladies and gents!! This is the one and only L. Jones coming back for the second season of (drumroll please)….The Simple According To Dawnyele!! Yay!! I know we’ve been on a brief hiatus and have not been updating as often as before, but hell, we need some time off…I promise the next time you guys will be warned in advance. Its been almost two months but myself, afrokittay and m@ciebynite will get back into it soon. Consistency is key. So be prepared for more excitingly random stuff like movie reviews, cool music and everything in between. Until then, see ya!

I’m leaving…on Monday Morning.

Okay…I’m in a musical mood today for some reason. I really like this song. It’s perfectly fitting for the springtime.  The song is very upbeat, the melody is quirky and the lyrics are serious and straight-forward; she’s leaving so no use in trying to make her stay. I guess after a winter of heartache and coldness, it’s time to shake off the weeds and blossom…I dunno. Melanie Fiona isn’t one of those cookie-cutter singers that require “extra stuff” to enhance their voice and sell records. She has raw talent. I love her.

Hotter than 100 degrees….

Okay folks….This is a jam. I first heard it about 2 months ago, and for some reason, I continue to dig this song. I have an uncanny ability to smell a hit, and my instincts are right on the money with this one. Be looking for this one to become a summer hit. It’s racy as hell, but sometimes that’s good…right?

what’s wrong with this?

As I was getting dressed for work the other day I heard something on TV that puzzled me.

There was an announcement of segments to come on a morning news show.  The first was about one of the convicted bombers of the Oklahoma City bombing a few years ago.  He is going on a hunger strike because of the food he is being served in prison is not conducive to his healthy diet.  He says he wants whole grain foods and other health foods served to him daily as he serves time for taking the lives of many innocent people; A great number of them young children.

The next announcement was leading up to a segment where there was a debate over the serving of food in senior citizen caters and government-funded day care centers.  They want to cut the meals and serve snacks in some areas instead of full nutritious meals to the elderly and the young.

Now what’s wrong with this picture?   Do we want to cater to the desires of a killer (who should never see the light of day again) or do we want to deprive the young and the old of what may be the only nutritious meal they receive  a day?

What’s your opinion?  Hit me up.

The feeling of love, or may just be heartburn.

Yep.  Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.   While some of us look at Feb. 14th as a great day to celebrate the joy of  love and affection, most of us look at it as just another random day that has been severely commercialized by big companies to capitalize off an idea that should really be celebrated everyday.  Hey, I’m just saying….At any rate, the day is here to stay (look at me, I made a rhyme haha) and we can learn to enjoy it by letting that special someone know just how special they make us feel by having that special place in our heart…

Pardon me, but as you can see I’m sort of biased towards the day.  Is it too late to say Bah, Humbug!!!!  I’m just kidding people.  I kinda like going into the neighborhood grocery stores on the day of, just to see Joe Random Guy getting upset with himself because there’s only one mylar balloon left that says “get well soon” and a card with no envelope.  So sad.  So if you’re looking forward to the Day of Love, here are a few places/things the good folks at DaWnYeLe! have picked for you:

J. Alexander’s Restaurant–This restaurant has always been one of my favorite places to go and have an intimate dinner with your significant other.  Dimmed lighting , great food and great drinks, you can’t go wrong.  The price is steady and the wait staff is impeccable.

Valentine’s Day-The Movie–There has been quite the buzz regarding this movie due out Feb. 12th.   It has an ensemble cast with the likes of  Jamie Foxx, Julia Roberts, Patrick Dempsey and others.  There’s nothing wrong with a great date night movie, but get your tickets early as I’m sure it will sell out fast this coming weekend.

MyDearValentine.com–A great website to search for all things love.  This site has it everything.  Whether it’s browsing for valentines gifts and tips, questions about relationships and dating, travel guides for that romantic getaway, or even sending E-cards to that special someone, you can get it all here.

Chili’s Restaurant–Hey, you can’t go wrong with this restaurant.  Not as intimate as some other establishments but the  prompt service definitely makes up for it.  With a reasonably priced menu, great food and 2 for 1 drinks, what more can you ask for?  With several locations nationwide, there’s bound to be one close to you.

We at DaWnYeLe! hope you have a memorable V-Day weekend, so please plan ahead to avoid the rush and be safe!
